What does it mean to be GREEN?

Although eco-trends in building and renovation have gained enormous popularity, the definition of a green home is still slightly unclear. In order to clarify what makes a home officially green, organizations such as the U.S. Green Home Building Council (USGBC) and the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) have established green certification standards backed by the Home Builders Association.

Furthermore, experts agree that because most green improvements are designed to either improve the home’s energy efficiency (as with insulation) or environmental health (as with wall coverings), they also add value.

Cabinetry Renovation Options

WHEN IT COMES TO THE REMODELING OF YOUR KITCHEN, new appliances may be pricey and flooring costs may well…floor you; however the single biggest expense of all can generally “hang” in the kitchen cabinets. It literally pays to take a close look at what you already have and weigh the options carefully.
Depending on the configuration and construction of your cabinets, you can replace, reface or refinish them. It would help to ask yourself some basic questions to decide which option is best for you. If the cabinets are not functional for your needs, determine if the counter-tops are too low (or high), if there not enough storage space or too few counter-top areas or if you really just think that the cabinets are ugly. Understanding your own needs will better guide you in your quest for updated cabinetry!
